Dare to battle

“It is impossible to win the race unless you venture to run, impossible to win the victory unless you dare to battle.” – Richard Devos

Right before Chris and I got married we attended marriage classes, and they spoke about fighting for your marriage and discussed times where it isn’t going to be easy; and i never knew that to be true till just recently. Most times in life, mainly due to the media, we think being married is like a Disney – inspired movie where two people fall in love, get married, and live the rest of their lives in a state of euphoria. However, in reality ninety – nine percent of the time it isn’t like that at all! Granite, marriage is awesome, and i wouldn’t trade my adorable Jesus – loving nerd for anything, but there are times where i get the impression he forgets all about me or is upset, when in reality he is tired and stressed out about work. Then there are times where i will say something, verbally or nonverbally, and he will think i want to punch him…lol! In short, marriage isn’t perfect…but that is why we have a perfect God that wants to have a relationship with us on a day – to – day basis and he wants to be honored in our marriage.

In today’s everyday inspiration, I was asked to use a quote in my blog; I used this one because it speaks truth. I would like to break it down for you, piece by piece.

“It is impossible to win the race unless you venture to run.”

Now, I am not a runner by no means, trust me I have tried, and because of my knees it just isn’t possible. However, what this quote is saying is, You can not expect to do great things in life and succeed without a little hard work. How do you react when things get hard in your job? How about your relationships…or your marriage?? Do you stand your ground and fight to see the best results, or do you give up and walk away? If you are running a physical race you don’t expect to be given a medal for giving up halfway in do you? No! So why should we expect any less in our everyday lives? If I am going to have a successful marriage, according to God’s terms, not Disney and certainly not Hollywood’s, then i need to run. I can’t get distracted by other things or people, I can’t stop and take a few minutes on the sidelines, I have to just run!

“Impossible to win the victory unless you dare to battle.”

I don’t know about you but i don’t want to just live this life, I want to live it victorious, and with purpose! In order to do this, i am going to come up against opposition; through my faith, my marriage, finances, health, you name it. However, unlike some people, i have already made up my mind i am going to fight. I may not be good at some things, but one thing i will say is I am a fighter! Growing up, my grandpa used to watch boxing. One thing i have learned from years watching the boxers is, they have to prepare long in advance before the fight. It will take months, sometimes years before they can get in a ring with their opponent, not only because they need to get in shape for health reasons, but they want to win! If someone asked me to get in a ring with Ronda Rousey, I would tell them they are out of their mind; not only am i not in shape to fight her, but she is very experienced! I like how this is quoted though with saying you must dare to battle. Just think about that for a moment. DARE TO BATTLE What opposition has come your way that is pushing you down and making you feel the weight of the world? You need to jump up and dare to battle the enemy, and tell him you are determined to win!

The beginning of this month was my birthday, and not only that, but it was also the premiere of Captain America: Civil War. Towards the end of the movie when Cap is fighting Iron Man, Iron Man knocks him down. I really enjoyed how they brought back the scene where he jumps up and says, “I can do this all day.” It was the same answer Steve Rogers gave when he first graced our screen in 2011, right before he becomes Captain America. In the first one he was weak and kept getting knocked down, yet he chose to keep fighting, he dared to battle the enemy. Although Tony Stark is more or less his equal, he kept going up against Rogers and was unable to defeat him. I know life is getting more and more bleak, and after a while it is so much easier to just throw in the towel, but I promise if you will call out to God for help, he will give you the strength to fight. God will help you push back the enemy, and before you know it, you too will be saying,

“I can do this all day”

Will you dare to battle today? Will you cry out to the Lord for strength and salvation? I promise when you do, he may not deliver you, but he will help you endure until you finally are able to stand on the mountain in victory!
