In today’s everyday inspiration I was encouraged to pick a word and use it as a prompt for writing. The word I have chosen is Solitude.
Most people are looking for a place they can find solitude, something that will give them ultimate peace. However, I believe the only place you can find ultimate peace is in Jesus, and if you look close enough you will notice solitude is all around you. I enjoy spending time with God in the mornings because I love the sounds of the city as it wakes from its slumber, getting ready to face the day. It’s so easy to get distracted and forget about the world we live in. I personally believe the reason so many are stressed in today’s society is because they don’t take moments to enjoy their surroundings. Don’t get me wrong I get having anxiety is hard, I struggled with this since i was a kid, but if we would stop and take time to reflect on God’s creation we would experience the peace we are desperately seeking.
When was the last time you sat on your back porch and listened to the birds chirping, or watched the flowers blooming when the sun shines on them? Do you find the sound of cars going by annoying and loud, or relaxing and calm?
I challenge you today to take a moment and find your place of solitude; whether it is a trip overseas taking in a culture other than your own; or go to your local park and watch the squirrels as they hunt for food, while you listen to the sounds of the city. Who knows, you might be surprised at what you find!
