Power to Change

“For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.” – Phil. 2:13 NLT

There are some people who will say, being a follower of Jesus is boring or too hard because you have to say no to friends or activities you once enjoyed. There were times in my life I was presented with a choice to do what “felt” good at the time or to obey my savior. Yes, it is hard to be a follower of Jesus, and it takes work, but as I am leaning on Jesus and spending quality time with him, he lines up my desires with his and gives me the strength to say no to my sinful nature and yes to doing his will – which let’s face it, is so much better than what I think I want.

Sometimes, I feel overwhelmed with being a new wife, learning to keep my house in order – seeing as it is much bigger than what I am used to -, and wanting to serve in my community and church. I love this verse because I know God sees my heart and understands how I want to be the best version of myself. God wants to give me the power to live life fully, one that pleases him and helps others in need, he is just waiting for me to ask him!

I don’t know about you, but this verse has really opened my eyes to how I view God, and how he desires for me to have a good life. This might come as a surprise, but you can have fun and live a meaningful life as a follower of Jesus. After reading this, how does this verse and what I shared change your perspective on things and how you will live your life today? Share in the comments below, I would love to hear from you!!
